When someone places an order … what comes next? First of all, there’s much celebration! But then presumably, there’s some amount of work. A future episode will look at workflows in more detail. For now, let’s just consider some really basic steps you might need to take. This is important because a clear process reassures buyers that they made the right decision. You want to communicate the message: “You’re in good hands. This was a wise decision that you just made.” It’s also important because if you invest time and energy on the front end, thinking through product delivery, you can save a lot more time and be more efficient in the long-run. For years I was terrible about this. I finally forced myself to not launch anything unless I had a clear plan for follow-up, delivery, execution. So let’s consider how this might work for you. I’ll give you two examples, one for a product and the other for a service.
