The metric is meaningless, so they started measuring page views and unique visitors, which is far more precise. Well, engagement is the hit—everyone wants people who will not only consume content but participate somehow. All of the algorithms reward posts that get more comments—which is why you now see all kinds of people trying to game the system (e.g. “Tag a friend” on Instagram). Interestingly, traffic to my blog is much higher now than it was before the pandemic! But even though I’m getting a few thousand visitors a month, very few people engage with my content. I want them to leave comments, both on the blog and on my Instagram profile, and it seems that fewer than 2% ever do so. What am I doing wrong?
