What It's About
How a college student learned the secrets of precious metal reselling and struck gold.
Notes from Chris
Episode 1941
Today’s episode is part of a new feature we’re doing in 2022 called ‘Your First $1,000.’ As you might surmise from the title, this is all about how someone made their first $1,000. How did they get to that point? Not their first $100,000—that’s cool, but it would probably be a long story. One thing I’ve learned is that once you begin to earn real money, the steps required to go to the next level—whether it’s $1,000 to $2,000, or even to $5,000 or $10,000 are often easier than that first real paycheck. Today I’ll introduce you to Max Hockley, who goes by the YouTube moniker Silver Picker. He buys and resells old coins—and he does it very well. After I went through the transcript of his story here, I ended up watching some of his videos including how he bought Russian gold coins at a speed dating event. Trigger warning: this guy has a lot of energy. Just be prepared! Deep breath. Listen to today's episode to learn more...MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE:
- Thanks to Max (Mr. Silver Picker) for bringing the energy and telling us about their first $1,000. I hope you found it encouraging. Check out his popular YouTube channel at youtube.com/silverpicker or visit his website, thesilverpicker.com.

- Marine Resells Appliances for Extra $2,000/Month: A retired Marine living in pricey California sets out to earn an extra $2,000/month by buying, fixing, and flipping washers and dryers.
